Some things I just hate to shop for. Basically, anything that’s not clothes or shoes. 😉 And when it comes to really mundane things like paper towels, well that’s about as glamorous as an Duck Dynasty Chia Pet. The less often I have to think about them, the better. That’s why I love my Costco membership. After tracking prices for a long time, I know that not everything there is a great deal. I never buy deodorant or toothpaste there, since I almost always get them free with coupons at the grocery store. But their paper products are a fantastic price, and their meat is excellent quality. (Ever bought a rotisserie chicken there? They’re HUGE!)
Sure, you get a year’s supply of toilet paper in one shot, but I’ve got the room to store it, and it never goes bad. Plus, I never have to worry about it; I never have to count the rolls and wonder if I’ve got enough left to make it til my next grocery run. Because, let’s face it. Toilet paper’s one of those things you simply can’t run out of. 😉
I’d much rather buy these things once a year and be done with it. It goes back to picking my savings battles. I simply can’t afford the time or brain power to figure out the best going price for paper towels every few weeks. I get it once, at a price I know is really good, and I don’t have to think about it again for a loooong time.
I also buy ingredients for freezer meals in bulk whenever I can: meat, pineapple chunks, BBQ sauce, etc. It allows me to do my once-a-month freezer meal prep and meal planning while saving money.
Now, if only I could do bulk cleaning so I’d only have to vacuum once a month…. 😉
