Today’s Simplicity tip is kind of similar to Day 12: Pick Your Savings Battles. In my area of the country, we have a plethora of grocery stores – no less than 13 different chains, not to mention the warehouse stores. I have friends who routinely hit 3-4 grocery stores every week, PLUS drug store chains, to snag the best deals from each store.
Sorry, but I just don’t have time for that. I try to only grocery shop about twice a month, because the more often I shop, the more money I spend on stupid stuff like doughnuts and Peppermint Patties 🙂 So I save my wallet and my waistline by shopping less often.
But more than that, I barely have time for one store, let alone several. Like I talked about in yesterday’s post, I have to pick my savings battles. I usually go to WalMart because they price match most things. (Please, no WalMart-hating comments below. Let’s keep it civil 😉 ) If I really need a certain cut of meat that’s on a killer sale and WM doesn’t have it, I MIGHT go somewhere else, I might skip it, or I might – GASP! – just pay WM’s price. Sure, I may not get Every. Single. Best. Deal. But I get most of what I need, at the competitor’s sale prices, and I only have to make one stop.
It simplifies my life dramatically. Time is money, too, after all. And unlike money, I can never make more time.
